The Del Mar Carmel Valley (DMCV) Sharks Soccer Club, now known as Legends FC San Diego, has been a cornerstone of youth soccer in Southern California since its establishment in 1970. Over the decades, the club has evolved from a local community organization into a prominent soccer institution, offering a range of programs for players aged five to nineteen, including recreational leagues, competitive teams, and specialized camps.

Founding and Early Development

The club's commitment to excellence bore fruit in its competitive endeavors. Notably, the DMCV Sharks' 96/97 Girls Elite team achieved remarkable success by winning back-to-back US Youth Soccer National Championships and Cal South National Cup titles. Many players from this team continued their soccer careers at prestigious collegiate programs, underscoring the club's role in developing talent capable of performing at higher levels.

Leadership and Recognition

A significant milestone in the club's history was the appointment of Shannon Mac Millan, a former U.S. Women's National Team star, as the Director of Club Operations. Mac Millan's illustrious career includes a FIFA Women's World Cup championship in 1999 and an Olympic gold medal in 1996. Her leadership and experience have been instrumental in shaping the club's programs and philosophy. ​

Strategic Partnerships and Rebranding

In a move to enhance its offerings and expand its reach, the DMCV Sharks entered into a strategic partnership with Legends FC, a nationally respected youth soccer organization. This collaboration led to the rebranding of the club as Legends FC SD. The partnership aims to provide players with increased opportunities for development, and exposure.
