COMPETITIVE SOCCER PROGRAM

Legends FC SD has competitive teams who compete in SOCAL soccer league. This program is designed with a proven development curriculum that prepares players for various levels of local competition.

LEGENDS SOCAL

Legends FC SD competes in SOCAL Soccer League for boys and girls U7-U19. SOCAL soccer league is designed to be an introduction to competitive soccer, as teams move up and down various flights based on their results in each season. At the youngest ages, it allows for players who show a passion for the game to develop. At the older ages, it allows for players to compete through high school on their Freshman, JV or Varsity soccer teams. SOCAL Soccer League operates and is sanctioned under US Club Soccer.

  • Flight 1 serves as the division with promotion and relegation opportunities with the NPL. Teams compete in home and away matches and may play outside their geographic area as they strive for promotion into the NPL. Participation in the SOCAL State Cup offers teams a chance to qualify for the US Club Soccer National Cup Finals in Denver, Colorado, every July.

  • Flight 2 offers a competitive level of play with geographically scheduled matches. Teams in this division participate in the SOCAL State Cup.

  • Flight 3 provides a lower level of competition, with matches scheduled within the local city or county. Participation in the SOCAL State Cup is optional for these teams.

  • Flight 4 bridges the gap between recreational and competitive play. Matches are scheduled within the team’s community, similar to recreational scheduling, but with a more competitive edge. Participation in the SOCAL State Cup is optional for these teams.

LEGENDS NPL

Legends FC SD competes in the National Premier League (NPL) for boys and girls U13-U19. The NPL represents the highest level of competition within the SOCAL Soccer League, featuring regional and national competition opportunities with bigger stages, higher stakes, quality facilities and advanced competition at NPL Finals in Colorado every July. Players who compete in the NPL often show the potential to play ECNL. The NPL operates and is sanctioned under US Club Soccer.

  • id2 National Identification: Open to all players regardless of U.S. Soccer affiliation or lack thereof, the id2 Program provides opportunities for elite youth soccer players in targeted age groups to be identified and developed, and scouted for potential inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s National Team programs. For each cycle, a national scouting and recommendation program is used to form a player pool from which top players are invited to attend an id2 Training Camp. Top players from those camps are selected for National Selection programming.

  • PDP Player Development Program: Regionally based identification and developmental programs conducted within the id2 Program umbrella. The Player Development Program (PDP) is focused around the National Premier Leagues (NPL) and other top leagues in specific geographic areas. PDP invitations are based upon objective scouting of elite clubs and leagues, combined with recommendations from top Directors of Coaching. Each PDP includes at least one training session and one internal competition. Some PDPs also include off-field educational components, as well. id2 Program staff are on-site at PDP events to scout players for potential inclusion in id2 Training Camps, and U.S. Soccer staff may also be on-site to scout players for potential U.S. National Team inclusion as well as conduct off-the-field lectures, seminars, coaching and other related discussions.

  • National Cup Regionals are open to U13 through U18/19 boys and girls age groups for the Midwest, South Central, Southeast and West Regionals.

The competition series features Super Group (most competitive) and Premier Group divisions. Champion boys and girls teams from regionals and qualifying state cups advance to the National Cup Finals, which are held annually in July at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park.

Because many state cup competitions are held prior to Regionals, state cup-participating teams may also decide to compete in the Regional closest to them for a second chance at qualifying to the National Cup Finals, should they not earn direct advancement through their respective state cup.

  • West Regionals are open to U13 through U19 boys and girls age groups, the competition series features Super Group (most competitive) and Premier Group divisions. Champions from regionals and qualifying state cups earn advancement to the National Cup Finals.
